Two For Tuesday Week 4: Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Thirteen Reasons Why

Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers 13 cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker his classmate and crush who committed suicide two weeks earlier. On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he'll find out how he made the list. Through Hannah and Clay's dual narratives, debut author Jay Asher weaves an intricate and heartrending story of confusion and desperation that will deeply affect teen readers.-From GoodReads.

In this haunting book, both Hannah's and Clay's voices are very distinct, alive, and raw. It's a beautiful yet dark tale about first love, suicide, and everything else that involves teenagers. You feel Hannah's pain as if it were your own and Clay's own confusion answering back. It's fast paced, distraught, and very mysterious. It's Jay Asher's first book and he does a superb job on it. Can't wait to read more from him.
